Girder is a powerful program that accepts any input ( keyboard, remote control, internet ) and translate it into actions on your computer. It is especially good at managing the receiving and sending of IR signals and is the recommended program to integrate UIRT2.
1) Install Girder on the PC. Download here. Follow the installation instructions on the Girder site.
2) Install the UIRT plug-in for Girder. Download the UIRT plug-in by Jon Rhees here and unzip the uirt.dll to the Girder plug-in directory.
3) Configure the UIRT driver. Start Girder and go to File-Settings-Plugins. Scroll down to the UIRT driver and check the box. If the UIRT driver is not in the list, ensure it is placed in the directory listed at the bottom of the Plugins tab. Click on the Settings button and select the serial port and keep the rest of the default values. click OK to save the UIRT settings. Click the Apply button then OK.
4) Assign UIRT driver to a Girder command. Select or add a Girder command. Click on the Plugins tab and select UIRT driver. Click the Settings button and you can assign the UIRT action to be performed: transmit a IR code or modify PIC port pin. You can have UIRT learn the IR code it will be transmitting later.
You can use the test and debug features of the UIRT driver. A Girder command must be assigned to the UIRT2 driver before you can run test and IR debug modes. To access these modes, select a Girder command that uses the UIRT driver. Click on the Settings button which brings up the Settings window. The test and debug buttons are on the right of the window.
